Summary
Donor stewardship – that is, ensuring donor recognition systems are implemented across your organization – is often only appreciated once a fundraising campaign takes off and “bugs” in the system become readily apparent. In this “practical, tactical” presentation, Beth Gallant, Director of Development Stewardship for Georgia Tech, will address the most effective approach to determining if your current stewardship systems can support the increased needs of a fundraising campaign. The session begins with taking inventory of your current stewardship systems, events and recognition vehicles so that you can ask the really tough questions: Will your current systems support the new and increased needs a campaign will certainly generate? How will donor reporting needs change in campaign mode? Will the events for which you are responsible shift from donor recognition to campaign roll-outs or celebration events? Are you prepared for these new events in addition to your other responsibilities? How will you consistently recognize existing donors and the new donors generated by a campaign? Do you have adequate staff to support a campaign? By session end, you’ll walk away with effective strategies for ensuring your stewardship operation contributes to campaign success!

Learning Objectives

  1. Effectively reviewing your operation and prioritizing your needs in campaign mode.
  2. Surviving a campaign and continuing to consistently steward your donors while the focus is on raising money.
  3. Tactfully “telling your story” so your organization will see your value and embrace the benefits of a successful stewardship operation.

Who should attend?
Campaign Planning and Donor Relations professionals who would like practical strategies for making donor stewardship an integral part of fundraising campaigns.
